The Dow Could Mark Longest Losing Streak Since 2020. Breadth Isn’t Improving.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped shortly after the market opened, putting the blue-chip index in danger of bringing its losing streak to seven trading days.
Shortly after 10 a.m., the Dow was down 48 points, or 0.1%. It’s fallen 2.6% over this seven-day span, which would also be its longest losing streak since Feb. 28, 2020, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
The S&P 500 was up 0.2%, but only 126 of its stocks were on the rise. If a majority of S&P 500 stocks close lower today, it will be the 10th day in a row the index featured negative breadth. That hasn’t happened since Oct. 12, 2000.
