Journalist Pete O’Rourke has provided an exciting new claim regarding Rangers‘ potential business in the summer transfer window, in a positive update for the supporters.

Rangers eyeing summer signings

The Gers look set to once again fall short in the Scottish Premiership this season, highlighting the need for new faces to arrive in the summer. With 49ers Enterprises coming in as new owners, the hope is that plenty of funds are made available.

One report has claimed that Vaclav Cerny‘s loan move could become permanent at the end of the season, with the 27-year-old scoring 11 goals in the league since arriving on a temporary basis from Wolfsburg.

St Mirren striker Toyosi Olusanya has also been linked with a switch to Rangers in the coming months following an impressive season in his own right. Eight goals and two assists have come his way in the Scottish Premiership, so he could give the Gers some much-needed firepower in the final third.

There are current Rangers players who could depart, with striker Hamza Igamane reportedly a priority transfer target for Ligue 1 giants Marseille. He outlined his quality with a brilliant late winner away to Celtic last weekend, so losing him would be a significant blow.

Exciting Rangers transfer news emerges

According to a fresh update from Football Insider, Rangers “could be backed with a £20-25million budget” this summer, once the 49ers have completed their takeover of the club.

It is also noted that qualifying for the Champions League, whether that be through winning the Europa League or achieving that goal early next season, “would provide an additional boost to the club’s finances”.

Ferguson-Rangers-Ibrox-Fenerbahce

This is exactly what Rangers supporters will want to hear ahead of the summer, with the 49ers looking to take them in a positive direction, and funds for new signings are essential in that respect.

There is a gap to bridge between the Gers and Celtic as the Scottish Premiership table shows, but strengthening the squad and bringing in genuine talent would go a long way towards them mounting a better title push moving forward.

If Rangers can keep hold of key figures such as Igamane, as well as snap up a mixture of experienced faces and young players with huge potential, the club will feel like it is heading in the right direction after what has been a disappointing season on the whole.

Granted, there is still a chance that the Gers could win the Europa League, but they will be seen as outsiders compared to some of the other teams in the competition, so a trophyless campaign feels more likely than not.

He’s in excellent form.

There is already far more of a positive feel around Rangers under Barry Ferguson compared to the grim final days of Philippe Clement’s reign, and the 49ers could herald the beginning of an exciting new era at the Scottish giants in the coming years should these rumours come to pass.
