Friedkin in advanced talks to seal off-pitch Everton signing Moyes loves

Aiming to continue an impressive start to life at Everton, The Friedkin Group are now reportedly in advanced talks to seal an off-pitch move for an addition who David Moyes is very fond of.
Everton set to seal off-pitch move
Having dismissed Sean Dyche and welcomed Moyes back to Merseyside for the first time in over a decade in the first few months of their tenure, Friedkin have certainly got the fans onside since arriving, whilst things continue to improve on the pitch. Under their returning manager, the Toffees look set to hand Goodison Park a fitting farewell.
The new owners won’t want to stop there, however, having also taken a key step towards their new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium, and will be hoping to play a large part in taking Everton back into the Premier League’s top half.
As part of that, Everton’s transfer activity should prove to be increasingly crucial once again – making one particular off-pitch move equally important in the coming months.

He could be on his way back to the Premier League…
According to Football Insider, Friedkin are now in advanced talks to welcome new sporting director David Weir from Brighton & Hove Albion. The 54-year-old needs no introduction to Moyes, of course, given that he captained his Everton side whilst playing for the Toffees between 1999 and 2007.
Now a respected sporting director, Weir looks likely to return alongside Moyes in a true throwback to an impressive era at Goodison Park. Combining off the pitch, the duo should set their sights straight on the summer transfer window.
Brighton’s technical director since 2022, Weir knows exactly how to take a club from relegation fights into European football all whilst crucially profiting at the same time.
Friedkin continue impressive start
Relegation fears eased, new manager in and a new stadium well on the way, Friedkin have enjoyed an excellent start, which the appointment of Weir would only continue. If the 54-year-old enjoys similar success back in Merseyside as he has done in Sussex then Everton may well finally enjoy the end of their limiting financial issues.
On the transfer front, even before the potential arrival of Weir, Everton got off to the perfect start by welcoming Carlos Alcaraz at the end of the January transfer window.
The former Southampton midfielder has added an instant spark to the Toffees’ attack, already opening his account by scoring the winning goal against Crystal Palace, and looks destined to have a further impact.
Now in a better position than they have been for a number of years to add some stability to the club, Everton – joined by Friedkin – have every chance of using the summer transfer window to turn things around. And Weir could play a large part in that.
