How to Claim Your Up to $400 Value in Marvel Snap Freebies

Card battle game Marvel Snap went dark last week due to its surprising, and unadvertised, connection with ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok. A ban on the social media platform went into effect on Jan. 19 causing the card game to be taken offline. While TikTok did return within a few hours of going dark, Marvel Snap has nearly fully returned as of Monday, and players will be greeted with a lot of free stuff once they log on.

Developer Second Dinner laid out a generous list of freebies players will receive once Marvel Snap returns, according to a post on X Friday. Referred to as the Downtime Package, the goodies include credits, tokens, XP, boosters and more. Most of this free in-game content can be earned eventually by playing the game, but a post from Saturday on the Marvel Snap subreddit estimated the value of card variants, in-game currency and cosmetics to be worth about 32,700 of in-game gold, or an estimated $400. 

There are some requirements Snap players will have to meet in order to get all this free stuff. Their accounts need to be created before Jan. 20, 2025, and their accounts need to be based in the US or have some activity in the US in the last 30 days prior to the outage. Non-US players will have to make similar requirements. Freebies are based on the player’s collection levels with those with a level over 500 receiving more goodies.

As of Monday, Marvel Snap is slowly returning to the app stores for download. The company said it will work on finding a new publisher to partner with and bring more services in-house to prevent this issue from happening again. It also added a daily Galactus Free Draw for players who visit the Marvel Snap Webshop, which rewards those who visit the page daily with in-game currency or cosmetics.
