HP unveils a range of AI desktops and laptops at AMD/Intel events at CES

HP announced a number of new AI and gaming computers during the Advanced Micro Devices and Intel press events at CES 2025 today.
It’s another sign that AI is becoming pervasive across computing and the AI PC is one of the strongest product lines at the big tech trade show in Las Vegas this week. HP is once again playing the field with a wide variety of machines across many categories.
AI-powered laptop
On the AI PC side, HP unveiled the HP EliteBook Ultra G1i notebook next gen AI PC.
The machine has a slim profile and a next-gen AI processor capable of 48 TOPS (an AI performance indicator). HP said it sets the standard for clarity during video calls with the AI features of the Poly Cam Pro and a new 9MP camera. You’ll be able to make your voice heard and hear others easily through studio-quality dual microphones and quad speakers.
It also has a haptic click pad that provides customizable tactile feedback. You can use different pressure levels to control features and gestures to automate actions on a 100% clickable surface.
The device features the latest generation of Intel Core Ultra processors purpose built for AI software. It has three compute engines to manage AI workloads, improve video conferencing and allow for advanced content creation. It uses Intel Core Ultra 5 or 7 processors with NPUs.
The laptop weight starts at 2.63 pounds and has a 14-inch 2888 x 1800 UWVA non-touch screen. It uses Intel integrated graphics and has up to 16GB or 32GB of LPDDRX main memory. It has storage options up to 1TB or 2TB and runs on 65 watts of power.
HP also has a series of other AI laptops targeted at commercial customers. They include the HP EliteBook Ultra G1i 14-inch notebook next-gen AI PC, the X Flip G1i and the X G1i.
A mini AI workstation desktop
Among the announcements is the HP Z2 Mini G1a Workstation Desktop PC, which is a mini-size workstations that HP says will deliver transformative AI performance.
This is an AI PC that can be used to simultaneously do 3D design and render graphics-intensive projects or work locally on LLMs. It has an AMD Ryzen AI Max Pro processor, which AMD announced at the show. It has up to 16 CPU cores, 128 GB oof unified memory and the ability to assign up to 96GB of RAM to the GPU. It can handle AI-enhanced or graphics-heavy projects locally. About five of these units can fit across a 4U rack.
You can get up to 50 TOPS local on the NPU. The Z2 also contains 60% recycled plastics, 20% recycled steel, 100% sustainably sourced outer box packaging and it is EPEAT Gold Climate+.
Another interesting laptop is the HP ZBook Ultra 14-inch G1a mobile workstation PC.
This one is thin, battery efficient and it has a just-announced AMD Ryzen AI Max Pro processor with 16 desktop-class CPU cores,discrete-like integrated graphics and 128GB unified memory. This machine can also assign up to 96GB of RAM to the GPU and hit 50 TOPS with its NPU.
On the peripheral front, HP unveiled the HP 400 Quiet Wireless Mouse, the Poly Voyager Legend Series and the HP 720 Multi-Device Rechargeable Wireless Keyboard and + Mouse.
On the desktop front, HP unveiled the HP OmniDesk Desktop PCs (with both Intel and AMD processors) and the HP OmniStudio X Next-Gen AI PC. The latter is a 27-inch all-in-one desktop AI PC with Intel processors.
