Samsung Will Launch Its Super Slim Galaxy S25 Edge Really Soon

Advertisements

Remember when Samsung teased a thinner Galaxy S25 at the Unpacked event last month? It’s happening sooner than we imagined. As the flowers bloom and the bees buzz, Samsung will sprout the Galaxy S25 Edge, which we expect to be its thinnest flagship. The Seoul Economic Daily reports that the Galaxy S25 Edge will have its launch event on April 16.

The event will likely be streamed online for all the world to see. That’s where Samsung will debut the super slim phone and announce an official on-sale date for those who want to hop on board the thin phone trend train. Initially, there will be 40,000 Galaxy S25 Edge units for sale, which sounds like the South Korean manufacturing giant is testing out to see if the demand is there. This won’t be a massive flagship release like other models that Samsung has out in the world.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to be “ultra-slim” at about 6.4mm, compared to the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s current 8.2mm. The device will use ceramic materials and cost less than the Galaxy S25 Ultra, though more than the Galaxy S25+. Supposedly, Samsung plans to sweeten the deal by prioritizing processor and camera performance on the Edge, and it will eliminate features like the telephoto camera to keep things streamlined. It’ll be interesting to see how it balances out performance with the purported 3,900 mAh battery it’s placing in there, a smaller battery than all three of the Galaxy S25 flagships currently available.

We initially thought this phone was a flashback for Samsung fans to the days when the Galaxy flagships had a sloped edge. However, given how rushed this has all seemed, this is more likely a “strategic” move for Samsung. The company can claim it was the first to launch a thin flagship phone before Apple launches the iPhone 17 Air later this year.

We’ve seen the Galaxy S25 Edge from about ten feet away, though barricades surrounded it, and we haven’t touched the device. From what we saw, it’s clear this phone exists mainly to show off. We’ll have to wait and see if Samsung’s bragging rights turn into sales. We’ll be the first to tell you if we hear anything official from Samsung.
